The West Huron Youth Club is the vision of Gilbert Steinen, Jr. In addition to ensuring that the "Steinen Farms" remain green and undeveloped, he wanted to provide an area where youth and their families could learn about and enjoy the outdoors. The Club is located in the Joe Steinen Wildlife Area on Cleveland Road West in Huron, Ohio.

 

Rather than pay membership dues, the youth help care for the clubhouse and the grounds, assist with events that are open to the public, and participate in community service projects. The youth club members enjoy activities and educational demonstrations planned for them throughout the year. Families from Erie, Huron, Lorain, Sandusky, Seneca, and Ottawa Counties currently attend the Club's annual "Day in the Outdoors" event and the annual "A Day Afield" event.
